Five SEO Trends

The most popular SEO trends for the next year … Did you know that this article would be published? You have seen some of these trends this year and others are new, but we can certainly expect more in 2021.

So, let’s take a look at the best SEO trends you need to know to be fully prepared for next year.

  1. Page speed

This is probably the most obvious trend on the list – we are all sure that today’s Internet is all about speed. More than 50% of visitors expect their page to be fully loaded in two seconds, so there is no choice but to enter the competition. Also, updating Google’s mobile page speed has made page speed a ranking factor for mobile devices.

To see if the changes really affected the SERPs, our team experimented. Immediately after the pages are updated, we analyze one million pages, their optimization scores, median FCP, and median DCL for each unique URL. The experiment revealed these three main results:

  1. An average number of pages between 1 and 30 positions in the mobile search was improved by the optimization of 0.83 about the pages checked before the update.
  2. The optimization score has an extremely high correlation with the positions in the mobile SERPs: 0.95.
  3. There is almost no correlation between the average FCP / DCL statistics and the results of the mobile survey.
  4. Unlinked messages

It is probably clear to all SEO professionals that backlinks remain one of the most powerful factors of all time. Undoubtedly, however, unrelated entries also indicate an equally important position.

All of this leads us to conclude that it is only a matter of time before mentioning unrelated brands becomes an official ranking factor. However, there are only two things you must implement in your SEO strategy by 2020 to use links without links:

  • First, comments about the marks must be detected. Fortunately, there are now many tools (like Awario) that can help you with that. (Awario allows you to filter statements by sentiment to respond to negatives first.)
  • And, secondly, keep mentioning more. As unlinked listings gradually become a reality, enrich your arsenal of link-building tactics with social sales, reviews, social customer service, influencer marketing, etc.
  1. Voice search

While this trend was with us in 2018, it looks like all brands will be called the year of voice search in 2020.

Voice search requires a slightly different approach to keyword research. To optimize voice search, focus on spoken language and long sentences, which are probably the researcher’s intentions, and speak like humans in real life:

  • First, think about the questions you often get from your customers on the phone and live chats, or from people you know when you tell them about your company. After compiling a list of the most popular questions, open your pages to further optimize them for these long conversation questions.
  • You must also provide the most accurate and relevant answers to the most common questions in your industry. This increases your chances of competing for a place highlighted in the search results.
  1. Indexing that pre-configures the phone

Since March 2018, webmasters have received notifications through Search Console that their sites have been migrated to the first mobile index. Basically, this means that Google will use the mobile version of the page to index and rank to make the web more mobile-friendly.

  1. Effects of GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is very active in the SEO community (and beyond). This European Union regulation, which came into force in May 2018, requires companies to implement the highest levels of protection for their customers’ private data.
