T-Mobile today announced the acquisition of Octopus Interactive, the nation’s largest network of interactive video displays in Uber and Lyft vehicles. This move marks the next step for Marketing Solutions, T-Mobile’s fast-growing advertising technology company, which is expanding its advertising offerings to marketers.
Octopus Interactive helps brands reach audiences through video ads displayed on screens in sharing vehicles, providing marketers with a new way to reach consumers and its impact is growing rapidly. Octopus’ ride-sharing network enables brands to run comprehensive, geographically targeted campaigns to a wide range of highly engaged consumers. And in addition to the ride-sharing network, this acquisition will connect T-Mobile’s Marketing Solutions group with major brands such as existing customers Octopus Audible, Fox Entertainment, Philo, and many others.
“Octopus allows us to showcase our media library and raise awareness among a younger, tech-savvy demographic. We’ve seen engagement rates above 3.5% and QR codes have converted extremely well, due to the limited environment for sharing travel,” said Matt Stein, Philo’s head of brand strategy and creativity.
In the future, devices used by drivers on the ride-sharing network will be powered by the T-Mobile network, allowing thousands of drivers across the country to connect to the Un-carrier experience.
